About the event

Scam victims in S’pore lost $385.6m in first half of 2024 as number of cases hits high of 26,587 (Straits Times, Aug 2024). The top scams committed here include E-commerce, jobs, phishing, investments and fake friends scams. The police said Facebook, Instagram, Telegram and WhatsApp were consistently over-represented among platforms used by scammers in the first half of 2024.


How can we protect ourselves from scams? Come to hear and learn from the Singapore Digital Office experts on how to stay safe with hands on Scamshield workshop. Equipped with artificial intelligence (AI), the new app can identify and alert users to potential scam threats across WhatsApp, Telegram and weblinks. Ambassadors will be around to help with installation and demonstration of use of this app.
